Fletcher Elementary School students in Mr. Guyette’s 5/6 art class have been studying the work of graffiti and visual artist Keith Haring. Keith was an artist who lived in New York City in the 80’s where he was inspired by graffiti art. Students started this project by using the proportions of the body to create their own “Keith Haring Person” with bendable parts.
After creating their models, students used the app CINETEK HD to animate their “person” in a short video. The videos demonstrated movement and allowed for students to be as creative and innovative as they wanted to be. This work was accomplished using iPads.
As a culminating activity, students will connect their animations and set them to music and produce short videos to share. We can’t wait to see all of their creations!
Drawing is still basically the same as it has been since prehistoric times. It brings together man and the world. It lives through magic.
