For GEMS 8th Grade Spanish, Valentine’s Day translated into a deliciously creative opportunity.
Students celebrated the day in style, practicing the correct pronunciation of Spanish words typically found on conversation heart candy. They then used frosting to decorate a sugar cookie with one of the Spanish phrases.
Spelling was emphasized and each cookie counted for a grade. On several cookies were the Spanish translations of “I love you – Te quiero”, “call me – me llaman” and “hug me – abrázame.” Students were now prepared to communicate with their Valentine in Spanish!
Needless to say, the students enjoyed their hands-on learning experience and the “sweet” results!
Feliz Día de San Valentín!
