Every other year, the Vermont Art Teacher’s Association sponsors a school art show at the Statehouse in Montpelier during the month of March. Their aim is to help educate and inspire our lawmakers to celebrate and support our students’ art.
The theme for this year’s Youth Art Month was “Hope Flags.” Students created messages with images and words about their hopes for themselves, their communities, and the greater world around us. Many of the students created flags depicting what is important to them and what they hope for more of in the future. All of the artwork was mounted on 5”x7” felt flags.
Students in Ms. Hogg’s Art Class worked on these flags during the two art lessons leading up to February vacation. The students did excellent work! Schools from all over Vermont participated in this show and the space was limited. Congratulations to the 30 students’ whose flags were exhibited in the Statehouse alongside students from all over Vermont!
