First grade students in Ms. MacKenzie’s class enjoyed the chance to play a board game to practice foundational skills in mathematics. These students were highly engaged in their game, and at the same time gaining an understanding of the concept of counting forward and backward on a number line. The game presented the challenge of following complex directions and collaborating in a group as part of their learning.
The Georgia Elementary School ensures that students have opportunities to integrate their learning throughout the day. In first grade, working together and having fun is an important part of developing the culture of a dynamic and positive classroom!
