Just before the holiday break, students in Mrs. Palermo’s class explored the concept of matter and how it relates to everyday life. These third-graders learned about the various phases of matter through hands-on experiments. Students then recorded their findings in their science journals.
Students learned how temperature affects the creamy liquid, turning it into a yummy solid. As students analyzed their data just before the phase was complete, they decided decided to redesign their procedure using the new knowledge they had acquired.
After much shaking of all the ingredients, the transformation was complete. The students had successfully produced ice cream. The final step in the process was to eat the solid treat they had created!
