Target 2: Leadership in a Student-Centered Learning Environment – FWSU will foster development of teacher and student leaders who provide innovative opportunities for local and global student-centered learning.
Action Step – Ensure students and staff take an active role shaping their learning using rich, authentic questions, problems they identify, and diverse resources.
When BFA Class of 2012 graduated, they debated about what gift to present to the school.
The class was environmentally conscious and finally settled on donating a new water fountain – one specifically designed to fill reusable water bottles.
The new fountain was aimed at solving the problem of plastic bottle waste. Americans throw away 2.5 million plastic water bottles per hour!
Over February break, the high school maintenance department installed the new water fountain and so far, BFA is proud to have saved more than 1,400 bottles! The counter on the new fountain encourages elimination of disposable plastic bottles while also motivating students toward healthy hydration.
Thank you Class of 2012 for leading the way and making a difference!
