The Lowe’s store in South Burlington stands by its slogan, “Let’s Build Something Together”. When STEM Coach JoAnn Harvey recently asked for their help to “build” the STEM program at GEMS, Lowe’s generously donated over $300 in supplies.
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education is a new emphasis at GEMS this year. Students in Grades 2-4 have not only been studying science in their regular classes, they are now being challenged to use science, technology, and creativity to engineer solutions to a variety of design challenges.

In the most recent challenge, students in Ms. Garrett’s third grade class engineered and designed their own windmills.

Thanks Lowe’s for partnering with us to promote STEM in our school, encouraging all students to create, design, engineer, and to “never stop improving”!
