In January of 2013 the Fletcher School Board charged a sub-committee comprised of Board members, community members, teachers, and an administrator to begin the process of exploring future space options for Fletcher Elementary School. The school is currently enrolling 140 students across grades PreK-6.

The committee held its first meeting on February 21, 2013 and has met monthly since that time. Many ideas were explored, including evaluation of the recommended space-per-student guidelines provided by the Vermont Agency of Education, tuitioning out sixth grade students, and building an addition onto the current school building.

This week the committee held a Community Forum to solicit feedback on its current findings  To be very clear, the committee is only exploring options. They have not yet made any final recommendations or decisions. The committee will be presenting its findings to the Fletcher School Board in November. At that time the Fletcher Board of School Directors will make a decision in regards to the recommendations of the committee. The committee will also hold another community meeting in October (the date is not yet set, but will be announced when available) to ensure that more voices of the Town of Fletcher are heard on this very important issue.
