Meet The New FES Teachers!

We are delighted to welcome many new teachers to FWSU. Over the next two weeks we wanted to highlight and introduce them to you. Today, we will begin with new additions at Fletcher Elementary School. 

JOANNA TEBBETTS, Grade 5/6 Science and Language Arts

Hometown – Salisbury, NH

Education – Graduated from Johnson State College in environmental science with a natural resources degree and an elementary education degree with K-6 certification.

Teaching Experience – Starbase Vermont

Interests  – Hiking, canoeing, reading, skydiving, motorcycle rides, and being with my son, husband, and dogs.

Quotable – “I am passionate about working with kids and I continue to be invigorated by learning and I am looking forward to working in the local community in a team teaching setting.”

AMANDA LAROSE, Special Education

Hometown – Bakersfield, VT

Education –  Castleton State College, Elementary and Special Education

Interests – Golfing, Volleyball, Reading

Teaching Experience – Laraway Youth and Family Services, Elementary Teacher

SANDI SIMMONS, Guidance Counselor

Hometown –  Hingham, MA

Education – I graduated from Gordon College in 1995 with a double major BA in Psychology and Youth Ministry.  I received my Masters in Counseling from Johnson State College in 2010.

Interests – I love to be outside!  I especially enjoy hiking and spending time at the ocean. And, I’m starting to enjoy running.  I love animals and have lots of pets, including a Rottie named Nutmeg. I love going to the movies and curling up on the couch with a good book as well.  I also enjoy spending a lot of time with my church family.

Teaching Experience – School counselor in Bakersfield

I most enjoy talking with them about anything that might be on their minds.  I believe that every child has something amazing to offer the world.”

JENNIFER HART, Art Teacher

Jen hart

Hometown – Stony Brook, NY  

Education – Parsons School of Design, NY, B.F.A. Sculpture,  St. Michael’s College, VT , M.Ed. Arts in Education

Interests – Besides art? Rock climbing, snowboarding, and cooking!

Teaching Experience – I’ve been teaching art for 12 years, grades K-8.  In addition to FES, I also currently teach in South Hero where I’ve been for the past 10 years.

Quotable – “Teaching lets me combine my love for art with my excitement for working with children!  It’s amazing to me that I get to share creative experiences with kids all day!  It’s also exciting for me to see new ideas unfold and objects invented before my eyes.  I constantly learn new things from children, which inspires me in my own art-making. I look forward to getting to know the students! I am so excited to be a part of Fletcher Elementary School community!!”
