Third grade students at the Georgia Elementary school met their new teacher for the upcoming year through a video chat during their school day. Mrs Lehning, their current teacher, has accepted a math leadership position within the school and will be working with Grade 3-6 teachers and students. Erin Young, currently teaching in North Carolina, will begin work next year fulfilling the two-year looping process with these children.

Students from each school asked questions about the recipient state and discussed “fun” activities children participate in throughout the year.  When asked, “What do you like about your school?”  One Georgia student exclaimed, “We have great teachers!”

This learning opportunity provided Georgia students with an introduction to their new teacher. Many children felt relieved and ready to make the transition to their new teacher.  They will all video chat again during step-up day when children meet their teacher for the following year.
