Franklin West Supervisory Union is pleased to announce that Julie Conrad was hired by the Georgia Board of School Directors for the Georgia Elementary Middle School Principalship, effective July 2019.
The decision followed a difficult search process for a new school leader after Principal Frank Calano announced his retirement at the end of the year. A 10-member hiring committee was formed in January which included teachers, school staff, parents/community members, school board members, and the superintendent. Over 20 candidates applied for the position and 2 finalists were identified by the committee. The decision was made by the Board with feedback from the Georgia community from a Community Forum held on March 21 where parents, teachers, students, and Georgia residents were invited to meet the candidates.

Julie Conrad is currently the District Mathematics Coordinator at Mount Abraham Unified School District in Bristol, Vermont where she has served for the last five years. Ms. Conrad has a solid background in education, which includes experience as a teacher, assessment coordinator and educational consultant.
Julie Conrad received her B.S. in Secondary Education from the University of Vermont, and her M.Ed. in School Leadership from Upper Valley Graduate School of Education.
