Dear School Board Members,
Today’s blog post is a message of appreciation to past, present, and future board members! School boards are an essential component of our educational system. As elected members, you work hard and devote many late evenings and weekends to providing the support and guidance needed to carry out the FWSU mission and vision. Did I mention it’s hard work! With our most recent budget season behind us, I’d like to welcome our new members highlighted in blue below. For the benefit of our communities here’s a quick update of members and committees.

The Vermont School Board Association (VSBA) recognizes the essential work of school boards as:
- Establish a Vision and Engage the Community
- Establish Policy
- Board and Superintendent Partnership
- Effective and Ethical Operations
- Budget and Financial Oversight
- Monitoring Progress and Performance.
We recognize that our boards have not been immune to the impact of the pandemic.
We know that you are often asked to make difficult decisions. We acknowledge that buying a gallon of milk in town can become a 20 minute conversation about what’s going on in schools. . We are grateful that you have chosen to serve your community in this way. Thank you for all of your contributions both past, present and future.
With Appreciation,
Scott Thompson
