The start of another school year is upon us, and GEMS is buzzing with excitement. Teachers and students are eagerly beginning a new year of learning and growing together.

Building a culture of learning is something all of us at GEMS focus on, even before the first day of school each fall. Teachers spent time during their in-service days in professional development and planning sessions as well as organizing classrooms – all while building a sense of community. Watching faculty and staff coming together is certainly the sign of a new school year.

And as the sunny days of summer begin to turn toward autumn, changes are taking place around the building as well. Back to School bulletin boards fill the hallways, along with the sounds of students making new friends and finding their new classrooms.  Welcome signs are posted on the doors. Smiling faces are easily found in the library and on the playground. The signs are everywhere – a new school year is off and running.
