“As we express our gratitude we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.”  – John F. Kennedy

At the November monthly assemblies, the Georgia Elementary and Middle School students and staff took time to express appreciation for our past and current Veterans.

The Middle School assembly began with the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Student Council member Celia LeClair, followed by Mr. Gribnau (5-8 Music teacher) and the 7th & 8th grade advanced band performing the National Anthem.  After recognizing some students for being “responsible” (our October character trait of the month), Mr. Crockett led the students in a sing-a-long of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver.

The gratitude for our Veterans continued at the Elementary assembly which began with a “salute” greeting led by 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Young. Students and staff then joined Mrs. Sweeney, preK-4 music teacher, and Mrs. Mackenzie’s 4th grade class in singing the beautiful song, “Thank you, Soldiers.”  (Listen to a short clip below!)

Thank you, Soldiers

With respect, honor and gratitude, the GEMS community says “thank you” to our past and current Veterans for their service to our country!
