Target 4. Engaged Community Partners – FWSU staff and students will collaborate, innovate, create and conceptualize ideas and learning with local, regional, state, and global partners to make a difference in their community, state, and world.
Action Step – Plan and manage instruction around problems relevant to students and their community and develop solutions for authentic audiences.
On Thursday, February 7th, the BFA Fairfax and Richford High School Girls’ Basketball and Cheerleading teams will join in the nationwide effort to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research, as they take part in the Play4Kay games (formerly WCBA Pink Zone).

BFA Fairfax will be hosting the 6pm JV and 7:45pm Varsity games that will feature all athletic teams wearing an assortment of special pink attire – shoelaces, warm-ups, socks, etc. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the game. Pink beaded necklaces and ribbons will be sold before and at the event. A bake sale, prize raffle and ticket sales will also be part of the fundraising effort and proceeds will benefit the Vermont Cancer Center and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
This community service event demonstrates BFA Fairfax and Richford’s commitment to winning the fight against women’s cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the under-served, and unifying people locally for a common cause.
Please come out and support not only our student-athletes, but to share in the greater purpose of winning the fight against cancer.
On February 7…Pink is the new Maroon!
