photoWe are happy to introduce the newest student member of the Fairfax Board of School Directors. Matt Larose is a Junior who be serving is this leadership position for the next two years. BFA is one of only a few high schools in Vermont that has Student Representatives on the school board.

Matt was answered several questions based on his experience so far.

1. Can you tell us why you were interested in serving on the Fairfax School Board?

I was interested in joining the Fairfax School Board because I wanted to learn about what happens “behind-the-scenes” to make a school system run effectively. I also wanted to become a link between student and school board by representing the needs of my classmates.

2. What have you learned?

I have learned that there are many topics and discussions that need to be addressed in order for the school and community to be running smoothly. Everybody has their own opinions and coming to a compromise is essential.

3. What advice would you give to other students who may want to serve?

I would challenge other students that want to serve on the School Board to get active in the school and community.

4. What excites you most about education at BFA?

The fact that the School Board and Administration at BFA are extremely passionate about wanting all students to be successful excites me the most about education here at BFA. Knowing that I am receiving the best education possible is encouraging for the future of me and my classmates.

5. What do your friends think of your service?

I would like my friends to become more involved in the issues addressed at School Board meetings. I think this would be a good idea because these issues directly affect us students. More student involvement and input would be beneficial for the Board.

Welcome Matt!
