Congratulations to BFA Athletic Director Geri-Lyn Witalec who was recently named the Vermont State Athletic’s Director Associations Small School Athletic Director of the Year. In her short time as Athletic Director, Ms. Witalec has instituted programs that have expanded BFA’s student leadership in powerful ways.
Two such examples are the Play 4 Kay girls basketball fundraising event for cancer research and the BFA Student Athletic Leadership Council (ALC). The Athletic Leadership Council provides student voice in school decision areas ranging from homecoming activities to academic and behavioral-eligibility requirements. The ALC is comprised of representatives from each of our athletic program offerings, with the intent of providing the most broad base of student voice and experiences as possible.
“We truly look at the bigger picture that athletics play in the lives of our students. The intangible elements and life-skills gained through being a member of a team, working toward a common goal, and being part of something greater than yourself play just as important a role in our students’ lives as the learning experienced during the traditional school day. With this focus, our teams are demonstrating success both on AND off the fields of play.”
Congratulations Geri Witalec!
