Back in November, students in Mrs. Wills’ 8th grade Language Arts class at BFA Fairfax spent eight days in practicing the “giving” part of “Thanksgiving
They organized a coin drop to raise money for Golden Huggs, a local dog rescue group based in Williston, Vermont. The students have been studying Developmental Assets, which includes Caring, Responsibility, Sense of Purpose, and Service to Others.
This project allowed them to practice these Assets, and as an incentive Mrs. Wills agreed to bring her dog Posey (an adoptee from Golden Huggs) into school for a day if students raised more than $200.
Students raised $260, all of which went toward vetting and transport the rescue dogs. Everyone enjoyed a special day with Posey in the classroom!
