In spite of the Arctic chill, Georgia’s senior citizens turned up in great numbers today for the annual Senior Luncheon hosted by the Georgia Elementary & Middle School.

Students and staff organized an annual luncheon for senior citizens.

The Abbey provided a wonderful feast featuring lasagna, chef’s salad, and rolls with a brownie dessert. Approximately 75 senior citizens were able to attend this function which was organized by Gail Wolff, Ellen Hsieh, and Kathy Quigley-Wieland.

GEMS students visit with community members.

Our seniors were escorted to tables by GEMS Student Council leaders who also served as hosts and waited on our guests. The GEMS saxophone group then treated the community to holiday music. It was a great opportunity for our students to sit and talk to our seniors and understand how much more in common there is among the generations than they realized.

Senior citizens enjoyed the annual GEMS luncheon.

This is a wonderful community service opportunity for our students that benefits our GEMS community.
