FWSU welcomes Joanne Saunders, the new Student Assistant Support (SAP) Counselor at BFA. Joanne takes over for Christopher Fountain, who took a new position in December to be closer to his home in Chittenden County.
Joanne is no stranger to BFA. She grew up in Fairfax and spent all of her K-12 school years here. She is happy to be back and looks forward to making positive contributions to a community from which she has received so much.
Like her predecessor, Joanne is employed by Northwest Counseling and Support Services. She is contracted to work primarily at our high school, but she will also provide outreach and coordination in the areas of substance abuse prevention and intervention to all FWSU schools as needed.
At BFA-Fairfax, Joanne will work primarily with students, teachers, and parents to provide substance use prevention awareness and support. Her schedule is Monday through Thursday at BFA, and on Friday’s she is located at NCSS at the St. Albans House on 60 Lake Street.
Joanne will also collaborate with Bonnie Poe, the FWSU Prevention and Wellness Coordinator, to implement the WSCC model.
Joanne encourages the Fairfax community to come say hello when her door is open. Ask her about her dogs and cats – always a good icebreaker!
