The BFA-Fairfax PTSA hosted a Valentine’s Day semi-formal dance for students and families in the elementary school on Friday, February 10.
What was a cold and snowy night outside turned into a rocking community event inside! The themes of service and community were evident throughout the evening. Before the dance, parent volunteers and students in the National Honor Society collaborated to decorate the gymnasium with balloons and lights.
Parents set up a concession stand with Valentine’s Day treats, popcorn, and beverages. The PTSA had a photo area where students could capture an image with their friends. There were loving images, fun images, and downright goofy images!
To gain admission to the dance, students brought a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Fairfax Food Shelf, organized by BFA-Fairfax High School freshman Robert Dearborn as his Eagle Scout project.
The evening was full of music, dancing, games, and laughter. Thank you to the PTSA for creating this community event. Never has it been more clear that BFA-Fairfax is the center of our community — students and parents had fun, made memories, and probably all slept quite well after leaving it all out on the dance floor.
Every once in a while, there’s an event that simply feels like a community tradition. This Friday was one of those events — we look forward to making the PTSA Valentine’s Day dance a tradition at BFA-Fairfax Elementary School for many years to come.
Awesome night for sure. So glad that we have folks out there in the community that give as much as they do!
