This past Friday, BFA Fairfax 7th grader Wyeth Haddock participated in the 2017 Vermont State National Geographic Geo-Bee Competition at Castleton University in Castleton, Vermont. Wyeth achieved this opportunity by beating out 10 students at BFA Fairfax Geo-Bee in January and then passing an online assessment.
According to the contest website, each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography.
Thank you to Jennifer Skerrett, BFA Fairfax grade 7/8 social studies teacher and Geo-Bee coach. She continues to provide opportunities for our students to participate in Geo-Bee activities, challenge themselves, and have fun!
We are so proud of Wyeth for representing BFA Fairfax Middle School at this competition. He shared that he learned a lot from the experience and is looking forward to returning next year.
That’s my boy! Yay Wyeth! 😊
