BFA Fairfax Unified Sports is proud of its school-based team of elementary students with and without disabilities. These 3-5 graders train together throughout January and February. In early March, the team ends the season in a competitive event with other schools at the Unified Champion Schools Snowshoeing Competition.
BFA Fairfax Unified Snowshoe Team offers a great opportunity for students to work hard together, be accepting of everyone’s different abilities, and have fun! Students can be a part of the team at no cost. The funding to support this program is raised through school and community participation in the annual Penguin Plunge in Burlington.
In its seventh year, the Unified Sports Snowshoeing Team is now offered in middle and high school as well. BFA Fairfax Unified Sports program engages students in athletic and leadership opportunities in the community and brings students together.
The Snowshoe Team is glad to have two wonderful two coaches and two teacher volunteers. This year’s team consists of 10 dedicated students who practice 1-2 times per week. We would like to thank our amazing coaches, volunteers, parents, and community members who make this program possible.
