All first graders at BFA have been busy learning about penguins over the past month. This engaging interdisciplinary unit has allowed our students to become experts about penguins.
Students began this unit by participating in a virtual field trip to San Diego Zoo where they interacted with staff, witnessed live penguins, and asked questions.
In addition, students have been researching all types of penguins including Little Blue, King, Emperor, Rock Hopper, Gentoo, and Chin Strap to name a few. They have compared different types of penguins and their habitat, height, weight, unique features, predators and prey.
Students culminated their learning by creating a life-size penguin and an informational book about their penguin.
